Daren completed a Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine & Surgery in 1987 at Murdoch University, graduating first in his class with merit honours. He is an experienced veterinarian, having owned his own practice for several years and worked for 3 years at the Murdoch University Veterinary School (MUVH) Direct Access Clinic.

In 2005, Daren sold his practice and moved to the USA to commence an Anatomic Pathology Residency at the University of Florida. He then joined Finn Pathologists in Norfolk, UK as part of an in-house resident training program, during which time he gained considerable experience in histopathology and cytology in a range of species. In early 2009, he returned to his home town of Adelaide, joining Gribbles Veterinary Pathology and achieving board certification with the American College of Veterinary Pathologists (ACVP) later that year.

After another short stint in the UK, Daren returned to Gribbles and is now a permanent Adelaide resident. Daren is a registered specialist in veterinary anatomic pathology and is involved in production animal disease investigation in conjunction with Primary Industries and Regions SA (PIRSA), and work for the Adelaide and Monarto Zoos.

His special interests are dermatopathology and cytology. Daren enjoys chatting with clients about unusual cases and approaches cases from a clinical perspective. He has two cats that enjoy destroying his lounge suite in their spare time.
