Dr Daren Hanshaw

BSc, BVMS (Hons) MRVCS
Veterinary Pathologist

Daren qualified as a veterinary surgeon in 1987 at MurdochUniversity, Perth, Western Australia. He has had a long career as a small animal clinical practitioner, and during this time spent 3 years working within the Murdoch university veterinary hospital environment. He has completed locum employment throughout the UK -including a 6 month position as a technical advisor for a major pharmaceutical company.

Along with a colleague and long term friend, Daren established his own successful veterinary practice in his home town of Adelaide, which kept him busy for several years.

At the end of 2004, he decided to pursue a change in career path within the field of veterinary anatomic pathology, and packed up his possessions and family - including the cat – and moved to the US to commence a residency training at the University of Florida. Following another intercontinental relocation, Daren subsequently worked at Finn Pathologists in the UK, as part of an in-house resident training program, during which time he gained further considerable experience in small animal histopathology and cytology.

Daren joined Gribbles in February 2009 and is settling back into Adelaide life – the cat is enjoying being back in his garden. Daren is currently preparing for the ACVP board examinations which he will sit later this year. Daren’s main interest is small animal histopathology, especially the areas of bone pathology and dermatopathology.
