Stella graduated from the University of Pretoria, South Africa, in 1973.  She worked in small animal practices in Johannesburg and Pretoria for a short period before relocating to the United States for training in anatomical pathology at the University of Pennsylvania.

Stella worked as a diagnostic anatomic pathologist for 23 years at the Onderstepoort Veterinary Institute (OVI) and Faculty of Veterinary Science at the University of Pretoria. During her stay at the University, Stella worked for 6 years in small animal practice, in which time she was also a senior lecturer in Veterinary Anatomic Pathology.

In 1999, Stella moved to Hamilton, New Zealand, and continued to work as a diagnostic pathologist at the Ruakura laboratory for 2 years.  She joined Gribbles in 2002 and is now based in Adelaide.

Regularly published in national and international journals, Stella’s areas of interest are within diagnostic anatomic pathology, particularly of ruminants, pigs and domestic avian species.  She also has a strong interest in the histopathology of neoplasia in all animal species.
