Dr Allan Kessell

Specialist Veterinary Pathologist


A diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Pathologists and a member of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists, Allan completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Sydney in 1987. Following graduation, he worked in mixed practice for three years in rural NSW, and for four years in the Middle East. He returned to the University of Sydney in 1995 where he completed a Master of Veterinary Studies in pathology.

Between 1996 and 2002, Allan filled the senior pathologist role at the University of Sydney pathology laboratory at the Camden campus. During this time he was heavily involved in the teaching of gross, histological and cytological pathology to veterinary students, in addition to providing a diagnostic histopathology service.

In 2002, Allan relocated to the United States to spend two years at Texas A&M University as a lecturer in anatomical pathology. He successfully passed the American College of Veterinary Pathology Board Examinations in 2004. He joined Gribbles in 2005 and is based in Adelaide.

Allan’s areas of interest include microbiology, equine pathology, cytology, anatomical clinical pathology of companion animals and practical veterinary education.
