Dr Philippa McLarenBVMS (Hons), MACVSc, MVS. Philippa completed a Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery graduating with honours from Glasgow University in 2000, finishing first in her class. Following this she worked in small animal practice in the United Kingdom and Perth. She joined Gribbles in 2002 to complete a two-year diagnostic pathology internship, and is currently based in Melbourne. She has recently completed her Master of Veterinary Studies in anatomic pathology at the University of Melbourne, where her thesis investigated the effect of haemolysis on the measurement of serum bile acids in dogs. Philippa also successfully passed the membership exams for the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists in 2006. Philippa regularly presents at pathology seminars and conferences. She recently has investigated the recurring syndrome of chondrodystrophy in calves and continues to investigate this syndrome. Other cases of interest being prepared for publication include ganglioneuromatosis in a boxer dog, mycobacteriosis and microfilariaemia in water dragons, and hydrocephalus in an African Wild Dog. Her areas of special interest include musculoskeletal disorders of ruminants, liver anatomic and clinical pathology, pathology of koalas, Feline Infectious Peritonitis and other viral diseases of cats. |
