This test is undertaken by specialist referral laboratories and would require pre-arranging transport media and notification of the laboratory to expect it. An ELISA test is available to test for the virus either as an antigen or antibody, PCR testing for virus identification and VNT testing for serological responses to infection are also available and preferred over viral culture.
